I am me. I only post when things hit my brain or

I am me.
I only post when things hit my brain or my heart or my funny bone. I never wake up knowing what I’m going to post that day.
And I’m sure I’m not telling you anything you haven’t already noticed, but I don’t follow a “social media formula.” There is no social media calendar in my world. I don’t make things in advance to share with you. Sure, I might re-post something I’ve shared before, because like the pair of jeans bought at a thrift store, it's new to somebody.
But as for the rest? Yeah, no.
It doesn’t feel right to me to do otherwise.
Because I am still stupid enough to believe that social media should strive to be as authentic as possible. And when I cave to the need to “craft” my message for likes, plan and strategize how best to “appear” authentic, well, drive me out to the desert and leave me there with a bottle of vodka. I’ll be no good to anyone at that point.
The only time you will see me posting a selfie with my mouth wide open laughing at absolutely nothing, is if it is part of a satirical post.
If it isn’t, again, refer to the above instructions.
Simply put, I refuse to play the social media game. I am opting out of that. Actually, I opted out of that a long time ago. I was never IN the game to begin with. I never even signed up.
And you know, in my life, I’ve opted out of a lot of things people said I SHOULD do. I don’t do this to be contrary; I don’t do it to be obstinate— I do it because I refuse to do a thing just because everyone else is doing it. Make no mistake, if I THINK it’s a good idea, sure, I might try it.
But for the most part, if everyone is doing it, there’s a better than good chance I am not.
And I am SO okay with that.
So look at the trends and the watch where the masses are going. If it’s someplace you want to go, have fun! Enjoy it. But if not, remember, there’s nothing wrong with opting out and swimming against the current in the Sea of Sameness.

In my mom’s words, “Honey, you were awful. You looked like a monkey. You were one of the first babies born at the new hospital and they wanted your picture to put on the wall. I told them “no” because I didn’t want anyone making fun of you.
I thought to myself when you were born, “All I can do is love her, dress her well and give her a good education.“
